Last Thursday, January 29, the Xarxa Punt TIC experienced the first virtual meeting of the year 2026. The new online session focused on the artificial intelligence tool AfroféminasGPT and had about fifteen participants, including Antoinette Torres Soler, director and founder of Afroféminas and creator of the artificial intelligence tool AfroféminasGPT. First, Antoinette Torres Soler presented the new tool that wants to become a technological alternative that does not reproduce the usual colonial biases of artificial intelligence tools and that, currently, accumulates more than 10,000 queries from citizens.
The AfroféminasGPT tool, which has aroused great international interest, both in Europe and Latin America, consists of an independent profile within the ChatGPT tool configured with Afroféminas' anti-racist knowledge in order to eliminate the biases that artificial intelligence currently has. In this sense, Torres specified that the central objective of the project is to continue advancing towards decolonial thinking. Torres defined the tool as a hack of ChatGPT in the service of ethics and detailed that around twenty texts by prominent black feminist writers were introduced, such as Bell Hooks or Octavia E. Butler. Torres also explained that the tool works like a library that is nourished by these texts that have been written by black authors with the aim of facilitating access to knowledge. Torres also warned of the dangers of the digital world and shared that several educational centers have contacted her to address the wave of racism that is being experienced in classrooms. Similarly, Torres was critical of the project and agreed with the contradiction that involves using artificial intelligence, such as, for example, for environmental issues. The virtual meeting ended with an open round of questions and reflections, where the facilitators were able to share their experiences with artificial intelligence tools.
